During the last few years the number of catamarans in charter fleets around the world has been constantly going up. It is no surprise, since, compared to monohulls, catamarans are much more comfortable and stable, granting more privacy to the guests, while being easier to maneuver when docking. As a result, there are now more catamaran than monohulls in bareboat charter fleets. Monohulls are still predominant only in the Med. Since their first appearance in charter fleets, power cats were a great success. Power cats offer two major pros, among others: SPEED and LOW FUEL CONSUMPTION.

SPEED: powercats normally feature a cruising speed of around 14-16 knots and top speeds up to 20 knots, thus providing a good chance to widen the cruising area. A few examples of what a power cat allows you to do: in just a week you can cruise the Croatian coast from Split to Dubrovnik and back; from Mahe (Seychelles) it is easy to reach Aride and Bird Island; from Phuket you can cruise down to Koh Lipe e Koh Tarutao (close to the Malaysian boarder) or the beautiful Surin and Similan Islands in a one week cruise; two weeks will no longer be required to touch all the Society Islands in French Polynesia; cruise the vast Bahamas; reach Ibiza from Palma in less then 4 hours; easily cruise St Kitts, Saba and Nevis from St Martin.

LOW FUEL CONSUMPTION: newly designed power cats feature modern engines and sophisticated hull designs, thus creating highly fuel-efficient boats. For example a 51 ft power cat with 2 x 370 hp engines burns 12,5l/h @ 8,5 knots, 44l/h @ 15 knots and 90l/h @ 20 knots.
